Personality Profile: An MP Like Hon.Frank Annoh Dompreh

Since I started following Ghanaian politics back in high school days, I was constantly attracted to Politicians like Jerry John Rawlings, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and this is quite strange, considering I was raised in a family that supported NPP.
As I was studying these individuals, there’s a common trait that was unheard of to me at the time — Machiavellian. The trait describes an individual who is cunning, scheming, and unscrupulous, especially in politics or in advancing one’s goal.
It is, of course, related to Niccolo Machiavelli, a 16th-century Italian diplomat. But I won’t waste your time, you can read about him online. My point here is, Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh is not Machiavellian type of politician. He is the simplemindedness, innocuousness, straightforwardness and principledness perhaps opposite of being a Machiavellian.

The personality of Hon.Frank Annoh Dompreh nucleates a befitting definition of what it takes to be an ideal politician and a father for all.  My admiration for him is rooted in respect for his intellect, hospitality and audacity; yet bottled-up in coyness.

In any normal instance, we would compare him to another person of his league – side by side. But this is not a normal instance. Such contrast will lack purpose, because this person in our spot light is one in a million.

Hon.Frank Annoh Dompreh finished his Senior High Education at Bishop Herman SHS in the Volta Region. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from University of Cape Coast. He went to further his education at Mount Crest University where he obtained LLB and MSC in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from Institute of Local Government. Currently, He is studying an LLM in Environmental Law and Practice with University of Leicester in the United Kingdom and an MSc in Climate Change and Sustainable Development with University of Ghana.
Hon.Frank Annoh Dompreh is the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

His greatness is evident in the number of committee’s He has served on In the course of his work. He is currently the Chairman for the Foreign Affairs Committee in Parliament. He has served in committees such as, Special Budget Committee, Lands and Forestry Committee, Roads and Highway Committee. In fact he was the chairman for the Adhoc committee on Sand winning across Ghana, just to mention but a few.

He is a visionary and a selfless Politician who envisaged a more successful prospects for his constituency and his country.
He always paid detailed attention to the needs of his constituents and it always a pleasure to sit down and talk to him about those needs because of the sincerity of his concerns.
In fact my love for him doubled up when I listened to him on Adom FM Dwaso last Wednesday after He went to the extent of weeping   live on air over the total neglect of victims of the Peabod dynamite explosion last year. I mean who does that? In the interview Hon.Frank Annoh Dompreh busted into tears when he bemoaned “It is as if we don’t have leaders in this country because nothing meaningful has been done for the victims. I have gained enemies even within my own party for insisting the right things be done”
He noted he will go any mile to make sure these victims are compensated.

Soo I always say this, Democracy is good and effective when MPs are approachable and always there to deliver top-quality personal responses for their people, When MPs feel the pain of their people. When MPs goes to any extend to help their people and Hon.Frank Annoh Dompreh is a clear example of such homo sapien.

I stumbled across one of his interview with a radio station (GOLD POWER) when he was quickly to apologize to his comments on the MPs “Dubai Orientation’ Gaffe. His comment about flying MPs to Dubai for orientation was taken out of context by most Ghanaians and Minority caucus in parliament who hold the view that the MP’s suggestion, if adopted, would have a drain on the national kitty. However Hon.Annoh Dompreh was quickly to react to this when he apologized that his comment was entirely in the context of humor so people should not quote him out of context and that he is sorry for such comment. Is this not the kind of people we need in the country? In my opinion, this action brilliantly encapsulates politicians who are effective, simplemindedness, and off all rueful not the bossy and proud ones.
What is more stimulating is how he deals with all persons on an equal playing field. When an MP with such influence lives by the code that may the best logic win’, it tells of a person whose reverence for others transcends beyond the standards.

Democracy is good and effective when people know who their MP is, feel they can approach them easily, know what they might be able to do, and are guaranteed a top-quality personal response as far as possible. And I must say Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency are very lucky to have Hon.Frank Annoh Dompreh as their Moses.

See how I have avoided the 'behind every successful man...' cliché?

As much as we adore the politician, we need to celebrate the big heart that is calling the shots. And in the words of a proud wife. The wife of Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh, Mrs Barbara Annoh Dompreh   has contributed immensely to the success of Hon. and I must say kudos to you to Mame Afia as we call her.
